THE NEXT CLOSET
From interviews to app design:
shaping how people discover
pre-loved luxury fashion.
In 2019 I joined The Next Closet, a Dutch circular-fashion platform bringing pre-loved designer pieces to a modern audience. Back then, circular fashion was still emerging and the challenge was simple but ambitious:
How do you make pre-loved luxury feel premium, modern, and desirable?
As part of the marketing team during my internship, I worked across content creation, interviews, UX research, app design, and product storytelling. I wrote editorial pieces, including interviews with Dutch personalities such as Elise Schaap, curated homepage collections, managed the platform’s content, and designed an Adobe XD app prototype to refine the user experience.

Resale comes with its own set of challenges: every item is one-of-a-kind, the catalog changes constantly, and there’s no traditional collection to build around and users upload their own pictures. The question became:
How do you make a fast-moving and constantly changing platform feel premium, calm, and carefully curated and inspiring?
-
As part of the marketing team, I supported the shift toward treating The Next Closet more like an editorial brand than a traditional webshop. Trend-led curation, stronger storytelling, and a smoother browsing flow helped users navigate thousands of unique designer pieces without feeling overwhelmed.
-
I was responsible for a large portion of the platform's content and presentation. I curated product collections for the homepage, wrote editorial content about the pieces, and determined which imagery would represent the brand. I managed social media across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter, and wrote SEO-optimized blog posts covering trends, sustainability, and fashion.
I also conducted interviews with Dutch personalities like Elise Schaap to build credibility and storytelling around the brand.
For my graduation project, I researched user behavior through client interviews and data analysis, then designed an app prototype in Adobe XD that made discovering pre-loved designer pieces more intuitive.

Interviews
I worked across content, social media, and UX to help The Next Closet create a more premium and editorial experience. From curating collections and writing editorial pieces to conducting interviews and designing an Adobe XD app prototype, my work supported the platform’s mission to make pre-loved luxury feel modern, curated, and desirable.
CONTENT & EDITORIAL
I developed blog content positioning The Next Closet within the emerging circular fashion movement. From trend reports to interviews with Dutch celebrities like Elise Schaap, each piece balanced aspiration with accessibility, making second-hand luxury feel editorial and intentional. My favourite interview was with model mother–daughter duo Frederique and Scyler van der Wal for Mother’s Day.
CURATION & PRODUCT STORYTELLING
With a constantly rotating inventory of one-of-a-kind pieces, I curated collections for the homepage and wrote product descriptions that highlighted the luxury and uniqueness of each item. The challenge was making a platform of single items feel cohesive and premium.
APP DESIGN & USER RESEARCH
For my graduation project, I collaborated with the product and data teams to improve the user experience. Through client interviews and platform analytics, I identified how users navigated a catalog of unique, rotating inventory. I then designed an app prototype in Adobe XD that made browsing second-hand designer fashion feel seamless.
SOCIAL MEDIA
I was responsible for the copywriting for The Next Closet's social channels, creating content that showcased the platform's curated selection of designer pieces. I wrote copy for Instagram posts, Facebook posts, and Instagram Stories. The Next Closet posted daily, and mind you, this was the era pre-ChatGPT.
